Spring organizing: One of the best places to start your spring home refresh is in your kitchen.

Spring is a great time to clean and organize your kitchen for the change in season. Doing this twice a year will keep your space efficient and functional.

Time to go beyond the daily/weekly upkeep and do a deep clean by wiping down the backsplash, cabinets and doors. Scrub your microwave, stovetop, sink and inside of the refrigerator!

After deep cleaning, start with the refrigerator and pantry and throw out any expired food. Don’t forget to check your spices.

Once you have eliminated items, it’s time to organize. One of my favorite organizing systems for the pantry is a Lazy Susan. It will give you easy access and visibility to your oils, sauces and canned foods.

Baskets are a great way to separate nuts, crackers and other snack items. Having everything organized and visible helps with food preparation and shopping lists.

Do you have a spice system? There are so many great organizing options and places to store them in your pantry, countertop, cupboard or drawer, depending on what works best in your space.

Next, tackle your drawers and cupboards and get rid of those items you still haven’t used since last spring! If you don’t have anything to let go of, make sure everything is organized well with like-items, so they are easier to find.

Keeping your kitchen clean and organized will boost your mood and save you time and money!

Capsule wardrobe benefits: How creating one can save you time, money, space and stress

A capsule wardrobe is a collection of clothing that contains essential pieces in a cohesive color palate that can all be used interchangeably to create a variety of outfits while keeping what you own minimal.

Reducing the amount of clothing options you have to choose from in your closet will save you time and make it easier to put together outfits quickly and efficiently. You will spend less time deliberating over what to wear because your choices are streamlined and versatile.

By focusing on quality and versatile pieces that last longer, you will save money by avoiding impulse purchases and unnecessary spending on trendy items that might only be worn once or twice. Your capsule wardrobe should contain key pieces that you will need for any occasion and reduce the need for buying.

It will create more space in your closet by significantly reducing the number of clothes you own, allowing you to remove unnecessary items and only keep versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits. You can do more with less in your closet.

Eliminating the daily dilemma of what to wear can significantly reduce morning stress and decision fatigue when getting dressed each day. Knowing that each item in your wardrobe works well together can also boost confidence. Selecting your outfit the day before is a great way to be prepared and reduce stress!

Winter decluttering: Make the most of extra time spent indoors by tidying up your surroundings.

Winter decluttering: Make the most of extra time spent indoors by tidying up your surroundings.

The shorter days and cold temperatures tend to keep us inside more during the winter. This is the perfect time to tackle those “trouble” areas of the home with decluttering and organizing to create a more gratifying space and increase daily productivity.

Closets are a great place to start! At this point in the season, you know what clothing items and accessories you and your family need this winter. Purge items that aren’t being used or are too small so they’re not hanging around for another year, taking up valuable space.

Kid(s) rooms and play areas are also a great area to focus on now that the holidays are over and, most likely, new toys have been added. Eliminate toys or board games that are too young or no longer enjoyed. Categorizing bins for smaller items will help kids find and put things away easily on their own.

This is a great time of year to assess your pantry, take stock of what you have, dispose of expired food and add extra non-perishable items for bad weather days so you don’t have to venture out.

This preparation now will set you up for a stress-free winter and streamlined spring!

The holidays are here: Ways to prepare so you can enjoy what the season has to offer!

The holidays are a time for joy—and a little stress! To make the season feel more manageable, start by decluttering and deep cleaning your home, so you're ready to decorate and host last-minute guests. Focus on the traditions that bring you the most happiness. For me, it’s a cozy Scandinavian-style holiday filled with hygge: soft lighting, warm blankets, and a welcoming atmosphere. And of course, no celebration is complete without baking—Bundt cakes and Norwegian waffles are my Christmas morning staples, enjoyed with coffee and Nordic glogg at the end of the day.
